The Greedy Beggars

 

Short Learning Story in English

A king noticed a beggar rubbing his back against his gates. He asked, ''What are you doing?''

The beggar replied, ''I did not have a bath for so many days. So, my back is itching.''

                    The king gave him twenty gold coins. Later, he saw two beggars rubbing their backs against the gates. He ordered, 'Give them twenty whiplashes!'

         They cried, 'The other beggar was rewarded. Why are you punishing us?'

The king replied, 'He could not scratch his own back. 

But you can scratch each other's back. You have come here because of greed.'

The beggars were ashamed.

Moral of the Story: Greediness always brings trouble.
